Since
our inception in 2000, we have worked on several projects and are
proud to have received substantial awards from grant agencies for
our innovative digital designs for both the personal computer and handheld pda.

New Dawn Estates
New Dawn Estates is an online virtual care center where Certified Nursing Assistant
(CNA) candidates can access training. Supported by the United States Department
of Agriculture, this training program addresses the requirements to certify
Nursing Assistants. Both lecture-based and skill-based content are delivered
through realistic scenarios, in-depth assessment and meaningful remediation
using beautiful 3D graphics, animations, audio and text appealing to a variety
of learning styles. In this role-playing simulation, the trainee makes decisions
as a virtual caregiver on how to care for the virtual resident. Situations
occur which foster learning of the content traditionally presented in self-study
and lecture-based class work. The focus of this training is on quality of
life issues—relationship building, empathy, and compassion. The program
is structured into 30 minute increments and accessible online 24 hours a
day, seven days a week. Anticipated completion date is November 1, 2005,
with the skill-based program scheduled for release in May 2006.
Creature Control Science Series
The pullUin software team has developed educational video games, based upon
national education standards, that support science and health curricula.
- Creature Control: The Quest for Homeostasis is a middle
school science unit that teaches students the concept of homeostasis. Developed
through a grant from the United States Department of Education, this game
engages students in a virtual world where they must keep their creature in
a state of equilibrium while trying to survive in a world that plunges into
a vast array of temperatures from arctic snow to tropical heat. View a demo
of the game by clicking here.
- Creature Control: Diffusion is both an alcohol
prevention program and a science module to teach the concept of diffusion.
It presents the science behind
use
and abuse of alcohol using metaphors and gameplay. Through this module,
students gain an understanding about the science concept of diffusion and
the effects
of alcohol use and abuse. The development of this program is supported
by a grant from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Alcohol
Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).
Nightingale Virtual Laboratory
pullUin software is working with The University of South Dakota’s School
of Nursing to produce online clinical skills training for their nursing program
through funding from a Department of Labor grant awarded to the Evangelical
Lutheran Good Samaritan Society.
MDS Training Program
pullUin software has developed an online tool for Sioux Valley Hospitals and
Health Systems to assist nursing home personnel in completing the Minimum
Data Set forms that fulfill Federal Government compliance guidelines. This
interactive tutorial gives personnel practice in completing documents that
meet federal regulations.
National Geographic Handheld Birds
Birdwatchers are now able to use handheld devices to identify birds throughout
North America with software developed by pullUin software. Through partnerships
with the National Geographic Society, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the
American Birding Association, this software incorporates bird songs and calls
with illustrations and text-based content to create the first in a series
of electronic field guides. Supported by the National Science Foundation
in conjunction with The University of South Dakota, this software provides
the revolutionary ability to use multiple criteria to cross index the bird
data in real time. Unlike the paper-based field guides that are constrained
to indexing birds by phylogenetic listing or color, this software delivers
several innovative features including a regionalized “smart” indexing
and data search mechanism.
